Welcome back!

We hope you all had a super, restful holiday and we are looking forward to another half-term of fun!

This half-term our topic is called Beat, Band and Boogie where the children will be given the opportunity to learn about a range of musical instruments, artists and genres of music. Also, they will be taking part in our Christmas Nativity and will be bringing lines home to learn. 

This half-term PE will be on a Monday afternoon and Swimming on a Friday morning. Therefore, please ensure that your child's full PE kit is in school. For more information regarding this half-term learning, please see the Autumn term overview that is linked below. 

Homework - Your child will receive a piece of Maths or English homework; this will be set on a Friday.  This homework should then be returned to school by the following Thursday so that it can be marked and feedback can be given. Please encourage your child to complete their homework as independent as possible.  If there are any issues regarding homework please come and see me and I will be happy to assist you.

Times Tables - In Year 2 we will be learning to count in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s. It is advised that you practice your child’s timetables as much as possible to aid mathematical development and fluency.

Reading– Please encourage your child to read every night for approximately 10minutes. This then needs to be recorded in your child’s reading record. In class, we will check all reading records and issue stamps to those children that read. Children will be sent home with a phonic book (which is levelled at their current phonics stage) and a Reading for Pleasure book, which is to be read and shared with parents.  In Year 2 we promote a love for reading, and it is a way of improving reading, writing and imagination skills.
