Geography is taught building on the core knowledge required in each Key stage and is based on  the National Curriculum. The knowledge is taught through a series of  topics making the acquisition of knowledge meaningful and allowing children to make links with other subject knowledge. It enables the children to investigate a variety of people, places and environments at different scales in the United Kingdom and further afield.  Children will begin to make links between different places in the world.

In Geography, pupils develop their knowledge of people and places to understand the physical, social and economic forces which define those places and the lifestyles of the people who live there. We study local areas and issues, extending these studies into the wider world. The children learn to use maps to locate cities, countries, mountain ranges, rivers, seas and oceans. They use atlases, photos and the Internet to explore the environment of the countries which they study. They then use the skills they have developed in literacy, Maths and ICT to report and record their findings.
